i Ula Drisi. Throwing club. i Ula are carved from the rootstock of a hardwood tree. It is intended as a weapon that can be gripped in the hand or thrown in short range distances at assailants. This i Ula Drisi consists of a ball-shaped head and long slender adjoining handle. The head is carved in a rounded smooth ball, with surface wear and a long prominent crack visible at one side. The handle is cylindrical and flares slightly towards the butt. The grip end of the handle is carved in a tavatava (shallow incisions), zigzag in design. A small drilled hole is visible at the butt of the handle. The i Ula is medium brown in colour and has a glossy patina.
