'tackle used for catching octopus'; two cowry shells, one detached and one attached to length of rolled and plaited fibre cord; both shells have a drilled attachment hole, segment of shell surround this hole appears to have been flattened out slightly;
NB:Marianne Tissandier, conservator at Museum of New Caledonia, viewed this object 10/12/2012 and suggests it could be a man's charm bracelet/armband or could have been worn tied around the leg just above the knee (FP)
