i Vutu ni Kakana. Food pounder/pestle. Carved from solid kau (wood) into a long and cylindrical shape similar to a baseball bat, with weight concentrated towards the head of the i Vutu ni Kakana which has a rounded base and is cracked. The handle is slightly tapered and has a small chip on it. The original kau is a tan brown colour; the i Vutu ni Kakana has been coated in a dark coloured paint or stain finish with areas of chipping.
