Vaka akaraanga. Model canoe. Double hull. Older style of vaka. Hull carved from light wood of rakau (wood) ano (Guettarda) with parau (pearl shell) inlay and rauara (pandanus leaf) akamanea (decoration) and puru akari (coconut sennit) lashing. A manu (brace) fitted in the middle of the hull. Parau circular disk inlay along planking lashed to the hull, many pieces are missing. Lashing of vaka components done with puru akari. Decorative diamond-shaped pieces of parau strung along sides at bow and stern.
