Kahoa hihi

Kahoa hihi. This kahoa (neck ornament) is made of small iridescent hihi (land snail shells) found in coastal rock pools, although very rare to find nowadays. The hihi are pierced carefully and strung onto cotton thread to create one long kahoa. Kahoa may be worn by dancers during performances, worn to accentuate cultural attire, or gifted to loved ones.
