wig
human history
Huli wig consisting of human hair embedded into a twine network and held with mud on the inside. The shape is long with a flat front face and base and curved upper. Attached at the top of the wig is a smallish topknot of cassowary feathers. At the bottom of both sides are 2 lines of yellow helichrysum flowers, or everlasting daisies which are wired in place. A single flower is inserted into the top of the hair. The hair on the front has been dabbed with a red dye. Lifeways Gallery, 1999
