Basket

human history

A round basket with a single handle. The elliptical base is made up of coils that have been covered and knotted together with dried pandanus. From the centre of the base, natural coloured pandanus covers the coiling to form an oval. Red dyed hibiscus material has been used to create a horizontal stripe around the basket. Triangular patterns have been formed around the basket by forming knots. The opening of the basket has been bordered with green dyed hibiscus fibre. A single handle has been attached and features a chequered woven pattern made of pandanus and red dyed hibiscus material.
