Te mwae te nikabono
Te mwae te nikabono. Neck ornament of conus shells. Sixty one segments of nouo (conus shell) ground and polished into flat circular discs, perforated near edge and strung onto dark brown te kora (coconut sennit) which is broken and re-tied at the centre and sides with baan te kaina (pandanus fibre) of a natural colour. The nouo discs are off-white in colour with natural spiralled speckling across the surface with a hole at the centre of many of the nouo discs.
