Tamaka
Tamaka. Sandal. This is the a sandal made from the aerial roots of baan te kaina (Pandanus tree). It is fibrous and has been woven to create a flat form that is thick in depth. The flat form is rectangular in shape. A fibrous loop has been left at one ends of the rectangular form. Opposite, two plaited braids have been left loose. They have been connected in two sections with additional plaited braids: one that connects them both and two that connect them to the sides of the flat woven rectangular form. The fibres are off-white in colour with some darkend strands that are more defined through the plaited braids.
