Sedre ni Kakana

Sedre ni Waiwai (oil dish). Dish used for waiwai (coconut oil) or yaqona (kava). Carved from solid kau (wood) into ovoid shape of dark brown colour. A spout is carved into the rim for pouring liquid. Patina of residue of yaqona dregs at bottom of the basin and white marks at the underside of the basin. Large chip at rim. Three holes drilled into side of the rim. Some chips around the legs. High polish.
