Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone), dark grey in colour, with an elliptical cross-section. The Yame ni Matau has a mildly sharp cutting edge, with a steep bevel, and a flat blade, and with a moderate to high level polish all over. The shoulder and the poll are left flaked and pecked.
