Toki, Adze. Multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. Carved from basalt toka (stone). Dark grey in colour. Quadrangular in cross-section. Flat shape. Sharp cutting edge with some chipping. Very shallow bevel. Sides are slightly raised. Front of the blade is flat and highly polished. Slight shoulder. From shoulder reduced to butt end. Butt is significantly shorter in relation to blade. Butt left pecked. Poll left roughly flaked. Surface treated with high polish with some areas left pecked.
