Yame ni Matau

Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone) and dark grey/black in colour with a cross-section that is roughly circular. Yame ni Matau has a dull cutting edge, with a steep bevel, and with a rounded blade. Yame ni Matau mostly has a high level polish all over, with the blade, poll, butt and parts of the bevel left pecked.
