Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone) and grey in colour with an oval/roughly circular cross-section. Yame ni Matau has a mildly sharp cutting edge, with a steep bevel, and with a rounded blade. Yame ni Matau has a high level polish all over, with the butt left pecked.
