Pāhoa
human history
Pāhoa, Short dagger. Hawai'i. Carved of ōhi'a lehua (metrosideros macropus, myrtle wood). The pāhoa has an elegant, curved grip with a slight barb that tapers to a sharp point at the distal end. This Pāhoa was modelled after the Kauai style dagger (see Te Rangi Hīroa's Arts and Crafts of Hawaii - weapons section for further reference). The wood is light in colour and weight and is lightly polished.
