Te burebai
Te burebai. Wrist ornament. This is an arm ornament worn for dancing. It is made from te ira (pandnaus leaves used for weaving). It is low and cylindrical in form. A plain-weave style has been used to create the pattern where a centre weft piece is larger in width compared to its surrounding wefts. Two colours of te ira have been used to create te kabaea ni bai. Some of te ira have been dyed in a dark brown colour and the remainder have retained their natural off-white colour. It is light in weight.
