Te mwae te burewa. Cowrie neck ornament. This mwae (Neck ornament) features a convex disc of takanea (large cowrie) perforated and strung onto te kora (coconut sennit) cord. In addition to the central takanea several red and blue moromoro (trade beads) as well as discs of dark brown te nana (coconut shell) and a smaller purple-tinged burewa are included along the string. A larger yellow burewa is fastened to one end of the mwae.
