Split segments at each end with seven leaves attached to each. Maidribs are removed and each leaf split in half then again into 4, therefore each side will have 56 plaiting strips and there are 112 strips in total for plaiting this basket. Painted with turmeric. Presented to MP by Te Ariki Fangarere of the Fangarere clan in 1992.
