Two coconut frond segments commencement at rim which have been longitudinally split from one frond section. These have been brought together and the stem-sides made to form rounded rim. The leaves are locked into place at the commencement with each leaf being brought over the adjacent one and the the second one along, thus forming a strong rim edge. The inner segment provides the sinistral plaiting strips while the outer segment's leaves provide the dextral strips. Horizontal twilled 2/3. Coiled three-ply braid finishes the bottom.
