Basket made from NIR bast
human history
Commencement from a square base. Plaited in check from strips of nir bast, four corners. Bands of black banana overlaid to carry decorative patterns on sides. Two suspension cords emerge from each corner from a triangular tag at each corner. These are taken into three-ply braids, making an eight cord carrying cord. There are also four shorter cords for securing the contents. Made by Maryanne Itoko, Nea Village, S.W. Santa Cruz.
