Roy Leslie was the son of David Kirkwood Anderson and Rose Ann Leslie, of "Tahiti," Lynton Avenue, Auckland, New Zealand. Born at Hawera, New Zealand.

His brother, James Leslie (14444), also died in World War 1.

A commemorative ceremony has been held each Anzac Day from about 2005 with New Zealand's Honorary Consulate, Australian Consulate and the French Armed Forces.
