At the heart of everything we do is the impact we aim to have in the world: to support an inclusive society of engaged and informed communities where identities, cultures and our natural environment thrive under the korowai of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The mahi of our 280 staff and 300 volunteers contribute to this aspiration by connecting people with taonga, sharing engaging content through our galleries, exhibitions, events and education programmes and creating new knowledge through research related to collection items.
We are Auckland's home of commemoration, as well as the country’s oldest research institution, a major tourist destination and event venue. Being such a multifaceted organisation means that we have a wide range of roles from Visitor Hosts, Curators, Collection Managers, Learning Specialists and Content Interpreters to Retail Assistants, Finance, Marketing, Tourism and Event Managers.
Leading with our Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations is fundamental to our purpose and aspirations. Our work helps to support greater social cohesion, understanding and environmental regeneration. It is these things that excite and motivate us here at the Museum.
