Tukituki

human history

Tukituki. Pounder. Tukituki come in different sizes and are primarily used in food preparation to pound and mix ingredients together. This tukituki is made form gagie wood because it lasts a long time and holds its shape. Carved from one block of wood, this tukituki is dark brown in colour and smooth and polished. It has a square base, a handle which is cylindrical in shape that tapers out in a curve and has a flat top. There is criss cross notching along the entire length of the tukituki. Due to the size and weight of this tukituki, it would have been too big and heavy for use in a pot so most likely used in a bowl.
