To'i fafau. Hafted adze. To'i fafau (hafted adze) is a multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. The adze stone is lashed onto the wooden haft with 'afa (sennit). It is rectangular in cross section, has a straight cutting edge that is blunt and has chipping along its length with a small bevel. It is dark grey in colour, smooth on top, and flaked underneath. Surface treatment consists of low level polish all over.
