mat

fine mat. plaited with shiny epidermis of 'ie pandanus leaf. the strands are double-sided with the shiny epidermis outermost. lower edge has fringe of warp and weft strands this is overlaid with triangular sections of pandanus leaf hand sewn on. some clusters of red feathers remain. feather hand sewn onto mat. above this terminal edge is zigzag pattern along width of mat created by dyed red strand of what appears to be hibiscus fibre.
