Te mwae te nikabono. Neck ornament of conus shells. This te mwae (Neck ornament) consists of sixty four nouo (conus shells) segments strung onto grey commercial cord and knotted at the closing. Each segment is ground and worked into a flat tear drop shape. The nouo shells are white in colour with natural dark spiralled speckling. A perforation towards the edge of each of these shells has been drilled for te kora (coconut sennit fibre) to thread through. A hole is perforated in the centre of each piece.
