Kali

Kali bitu. Bamboo kali. This kali bitu is made from composite materials and consists of a segment of bitu (bamboo) for the tolo ni kali (body of the kali) with yava ni kali (support legs for the kali) lashed to the underside with magimagi (coconut sennit) although one of these is missing. The magimagi lashing is loosened and frayed. The remaining yava is carved from kau (wood) into a triangular shape that flares outwards towards the base. The light yellow coloured bitu is naturally sealed at each end. Its surface is scratched, with a "V' character visible on one side.
