Meet the team

As a volunteer, you’ll become part of a diverse and talented team of people who contribute significantly to the work of the Museum. You will be welcomed and looked after by Ros, Alfiya, Emily, and other members of staff.

MANAGER OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Ros Currie

Ros Currie joined the staff of Auckland Museum in 2009. Prior to this she worked as a teacher in senior primary school management roles across Auckland. Her background in developing assessment and professional development systems, working with IT and gifted students has been supplemented by experience working in event management and marketing.

Since joining the Museum, Ros has developed strong training programmes working closely across the Museum to maximise opportunities for the many volunteers who contribute their time and skills. Ros holds a BA in Psychology from Auckland University, and spent a year as a Teacher Fellow in 2007.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR

Alfiya Inamdar

Alfiya Inamdar was born in India, and trained as an architect before taking on a teaching role at a university. In 2016, she married and moved to New Zealand. Her first job here was in retail, in the Auckland Museum shop. Since then she has moved to working in the Volunteer Services team, where her patience and good humour has served her well.

Her background in Architecture, art and teaching has brought diversity and new skills to the team, and she has made a real contribution to managing our diverse volunteering body. Alfiya is an official cat lover, and also writes and paints in her spare time, selling her art in India and the Middle East.

Alfiya holds a Bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Pune, India and is enjoying her cultural journey of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR

Emily Isaac

Emily Isaac has been at Tāmaki Paenga Hira since 2018, having worked a number of roles throughout her tenure, initially joining as a Visitor Host. As Visitor Host Supervisor Emily took part in Volunteer Guide training to learn more about our collections and to share knowledge with visitors, before deciding to become a full-time Volunteer Coordinator. With this background she brings a huge level of Museum knowledge and understanding to her role, as well as established relationships with our large and growing team of volunteers.

Emily comes from the villages of Mutalau and Alofi in Niue, and loves being able to share her culture with people from around the world. Outside of the Museum, Emily has a soft spot for cats (despite being allergic to them) and is part of a Niuean dance group.
