James Busby - Invitation to Tamati Waka Nene, 1840

    Original invitation, in Maori, dated 30 January 1840, printed by William Colenso, the CMS printer, at Paihia, Bay of Islands, inviting the chiefs of the Confederation (Whakaminenga) to attend a meeting (huihuinga) with the "chief of the Queen" at Busby's house at Waitangi on "Wednesday of next holy week". This copy was sent to Tamati Waka Nene and is signed by James Busby, British Resident ("Ki a Tamati Waka Nene").
