We're seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for a unique, collaborative role aimed at developing a comprehensive Wai262 framework and strategy for Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum.
This role is a critical enabler of our Five-Year Strategic Plan - The Path to 2029 and an expression of our ongoing commitment to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and align with our principles of kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga and tangata whenua guided by our Taumata-ā-Iwi.
This EOI invites individuals or groups to participate in a process of discussion, collaboration, and partnership.

The kaupapa statement of Wai262 “represents a commitment to te tino rangatiratanga o ngā taonga katoa”. The central and unifying element of taonga is the mātauranga associated with the taonga. Mātauranga encompasses a worldview of whānau, hapū and iwi as kaitiaki, engendered through whakapapa. The understanding of taonga Māori is holistic – an all-inclusive approach in the care and protection of the tangible and intangible.

This role will report to an ohu from across the Museum, including senior Māori staff and led by the Tumuaki Māori, that will help to shape and guide the work programme.
The intent is to co-create a framework that will guide the Museum in responding to Wai262, addressing the needs and aspirations of Māori communities, and integrating these into our strategic direction as outlined in our "Path to 2029" document. By engaging in this collaborative process, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and more meaningful engagement with our stakeholders. Be proactive in the protection and affirmation of the rights and obligations of kaitiaki at an individual, whānau and hapū and iwi basis.
