Known issues

We are aware of the following areas where our website does not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working to fix these:

  • Heading order in some content pages — A small number of content pages use heading levels that skip steps (e.g. <h3> followed by <h5>, or <h1> followed by <h4>). We are correcting these as part of our ongoing content review.

  • Empty headings in legacy rich text — Some rich-text blocks contain empty heading elements left over from migrated content. These are being cleaned up.

  • Online Cenotaph contributor photos — Photos contributed by members of the public may not always include descriptive alt text.

  • Some PDFs are not tagged for accessibility — Older PDFs may not be fully accessible to screen readers. Where possible, an HTML alternative is provided. Contact us if you need a specific document in an accessible format.

  • Carousel components — Some image carousels (belts) on landing pages use heading levels that don't follow strict sequential order. This is a known limitation we are reviewing.
