  • Lawrence Don Bennett left study at Lincoln College, where he was pursuing his dream of becoming a farmer, to enlist. He embarked to Canada for training as one of 7000 New Zealanders who passed through the dominion for Air Force training, but the war ended and he was returned home to New Zealand. He passed in 1966, survived by his wife, Nola (Trixie) Bennett, and his three sons Randall, Vaughan and Craig. AWMM
