    Marched out to NZ Engineers Reserve, Christchurch, 16 April 1918.
    Found guilty of being absent without leave in Christchurch: forfeited 1 day's pay, 18 May 1918.
    Found guilty of being absent from parade: forfeited 1 day's pay by award, 24 May 1918.
    Found guilty of being absent from parade: forfeited 2 days' pay by award, 25 May 1918.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 11 June 1918; joined 3rd Entrenching Bn, in the field, 17 June 1918.
    Transferred to NZ Maori Pioneer Bn and taken on strength, 24 June 1918.
    Admitted sick to hospital, 12 July 1918; rejoined Bn, 17 July 1918.

    Admitted to 24th General Hospital, Etaples, 17 January 1919 (influenza); discharged to Base Depot, 24 January 1919.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Tilbury on board HMNZT 'Pakeha',14 April 1919; disembarked Wellington, 30 May 1919; discharged (termination of period of engagement), 27 June 1919.
    Total war service: 1 year 3120 days (of which 1 year 151 days was overseas)

  • Hey Koro, I wish there was one more time to talk about all the things and places you went to........ how was the world when you travelled as a really young man (16years old!!).
    All those birthdays we shared on May 29th, you in 1899 me in 1964. You may not remember but I still have the plastic kete you gave to me for one of those birthdays, gee I thought it was really flash....... so modern in comparison to the nana used to have. How time changes. Love ya koro Cindy (Jacks 2nd)
