  • Signaller Henare Mete Kingi... was a son of a well-known Wanganui Chief, Hoani Mete Kingi. Cpl. Teira Mete Kingi, a younger son, was killed at Gallipoli. The two young men were grandsons of Mete Kingi Paetahi, the First Maori member elected to the House of Representatives. From Chronicles of the N.Z.E.F dated December 27, 1916 at page 209. AWMM
