Case No. 1089. Humane Society Awards Medal. A 56-year-old Auckland man has been awarded the bronze. medal of the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand for his attempt to rescue an elderly man from two electric power cables. The man, Mr Patrick Davis, a. carpenter saw a man who lived in the same apartment house, at 10 Carlton Gore road, sitting on the wet metal roof of the house grasping two power cables in his hands, with sparks flying about. The man waa Mr W. Coswill, aged 81. Mr Davis immediately jumped over the veranda rail on to the roof and caught the man by his coat and pulled him free. He snapped both power lines in the process. Ambulance staff and a doctor performed artificial respiration on Mr Coswill for two hours, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
