    Three brothers were killed within a week : Leslie Malcolm (31530); Leonard Charles (33755), Edwin (40234)

    Enlisted and posted to C Company, 21st Reinforcements, 18 September 1916; transferred to H Company, 21st Reinforcements, 4 October 1916.
    Embarked onboard HMNZT 'Waitemata' in Wellington and proceeded overseas to England, 19 January 1917. Disembarked Devonport, England, marched in to Sling Camp and taken on strength 5th (Reserve) Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 28 March 1917. Taken on strength 3rd Battalion, Auckland Infantry Regiment, and posted to 15th (North Auckland) Company.
    Proceeded overseas with unit to France, 28 May 1917.
    Attached to No 4 Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps, in the field, 4 June 1917; ceased attachment to No 4 Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps, and rejoined unit, 5 July 1917. Detached to Salvage Company, in the field, 30 July 1917; rejoined unit, 27 August 1917.
    Killed in action, 4 October 1917.
