  • Koro Waki , I remember the stories you would tell me as a child, dressed in full uniform wearing your medals with pride, sitting outside under the walnut tree. How we would laugh till it hurt, when you told us of stories, when you learnt to ride a motorcycle, by tying it to the walnut tree because it would run away on you. The stories you told me of when you joined the Army, the pride would beam through your eyes as you reminisced, how you told fibs about your age to get into the Army, how you thought it was awesome they were going to give you a rifle, take you around the world. You always wore your uniform with so much pride my Koro. I pray we have done you proud as we approach ANZAC 2016, we will never forget. Your Great Moko, Jahdae Waki hingawaka Eyres-Murphy Parades with pride every year as a NZ Cadet Corp, RIP my Koro xxxx your Mokopuna
