  • Kenneth George Weal was my mother's younger brother, the uncle I never knew, but wish I had. From his picture, one can see that the family resemblance is striking. My mother (Doreen Weal) gave to me the only object she had that had belonged to him, which was a book entitled "Electrical and Radio Notes for Wireless Operators", issued by the (British) Air Ministry. In it is marked "Hobsonville Library, Issue No. 1". Hobsonville was a NZ Air Force base in Auckland, NZ.

Uncle Ken died in an aircraft accident in Quebec, Canada, whilst on a training exercise. To have died so young is such a tragedy. My mother talked about him quite often.

    Rest in peace, dear Uncle.
