  • Kia ora e Koro Although i will never meet you, I am your eldest grandson from your eldest son Popata Gage. I have 2 brothers and a whangai sister, Nathan Rangi Tautua, Morgan Popata and Darnae Tanya Louise, you have 7 great grandchildren Kearn Herewini, Karley Te Aorangi, Zion Bo Herewini, Reef Adlam Popata, Hoani, Tyler and Tamia. Every ANZAC day my brothers parade yours and your sons medals with pride, and we have a proud heritage of having a soldier in our family, Morgan being the latest and not the last. My father said that if I was to visit your grave 1 day that I was to take some dirt from the East Coast (Tawhitinui) and bury it with you. I know your grave is plot 9 row 9 and I will be there one day. Arohanui e Koro Deane Gage

  • To my darling grandfather I never had the pleasure of meeting you face to face but you have always been in my thoughts and in my heart. I am so proud to be your granddaughter and wonder often how life would have been had you returned. I vowel to one day stand next to you at your final resting place and express my love to you.
