Obituary

Last night advice was received by Mrs Waima Kaire, of Ngararatunua, that her husband, Corporal Morehu Kaire had been killed in action in Libya on December 16.
Corporal Kaire, who was 22 years of age, lived at Ngararatunua with his wife and two children. He was born in that settlement, the son of Mrs W. Kaire and the late Mr Kaire, and was educated at the Whangarei High School.

Enlisting soon after the outbreak of war he went overseas with reinforcements for the Maori Battalion and served in Egypt and Libya. Keen on all sport, he was a good tennis player and he played football for the Kamo Club.
Two brothers, Sergeant P. K. Kaire and Private J. Kaire, are also members of the Maori Battalion
