  • My grandfather, Jim Robinson, was friends with Paul Langston since their time together at Fielding High School. They were flatting together in Wellington and they both decided to sign up for the Air Force at age 19, rather than be drafted. They were separated during training (as friends usually were). Our family has a photograph of Jim and Paul walking down a city street in Wellington, both looking very dapper. In our chats, my grandfather talked of Paul and how devastated his parents were after he was killed in action. I just wanted to say that we will think of Paul along with my grandfather on Anzac Day. My son and I looked at the photo of them in Wellington and remembered them today.

    Report
  • My father Lloyd Williams was a friend of Paul Langston's from Marton. Olive Langston wrote to Lloyd Feb 28 1962 to say that the padre at Ohakea called in to advise Paul's body had been found, with his identity disc and pieces of plane, in a swamp in Holland [Loonohzana?]. Bullet holes in back of plane.
