    OFFICER KILLED IN ACTION
LINK WITH SOUTHLAND MAORI TRIBES Captain Pango Stirling Munro, who has been killed in action, was linked with Maori tribes in Southland. He was a son of the late Rev. H. W. Munro and Mrs Helen Munro, of Rotorua, and was 29 years of age. Mrs Munro is a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Stirling, of Riverton. Her great-grand-father was Captain Stirling, after whom Stirling Point at Bluff was named. Captain Munro, who spent a year of his schooldays at Riverton, belonged to the Ngatimoe and Ngatahu tribes in Southland, and on his falher's side was associated with the Ngatiwnakane, of Rotorua, another distinguished fighting tribe.
