  • MAORI CONTINGENT. A FAREWELL ARRANGED. A public meeting of Maoris was held in the Runanga Hall on Saturday to arrange a send-off to the Maori lads who have been selected for the Expeditionary Force. Mr Tame Green presided. Colonel Cossgrove read a number of telegrams he had received from Mr T. Parata, M.P., regarding the men selected. Nine out of eleven applicants had been passed by the doctor, and the whole of them had been accepted. Owing to the delay in sending away the Expeditionary Force, the date of the assembling of the Maori contingent had been postponed, and the men would now leave Lyttelton on Saturday for the camp at Auckland. A ladies' committee was elected to arrange for a social, and the send-off was fixed for Thursday evening. The following are the representatives who will leave here on Saturday morning:—Nopere Hape Mokomoko, Henare Paipeta, Robert Flutey, Wiremu Aata Pitama, Te Kirikaihau Pitama, Wiremu Korako, J. H.
