    His father served in World War II. He was Rev. Capt. Wharetini Rangi, 28 (Maori) Battalion.

    His brother 62689 Lance Corporal Teua Numia Rangi was killed in action on 24 December 1943. He was a brother of Wiremum Patara Rangi. AWMM
