  • In 1918, a year after his discharge from the army, Frank married his second wife, Dorothy Eveline Chant. In 1940, he was too old to enlist for the war, so Frank gave a date of birth that was 12 years younger than his actual age (28 Feb 1903), and listed his next of kin as Mr D. E. Barber (father). Mr D. E. Barber was obviously himself, and he passed himself off as his own son.

    Three of his brothers served in World War I (George, James, and Michael Barber).

    His sons, Ronald Francis Barber (30454) and Aubrey Vincent Barber (44708), both served in World War II. His nephew, James Barber (6522), was a prisoner of war in Europe after being captured on Crete. AWMM
