  • My grandfather George McLaren (12/2419) was an NCO in the 1st Auckland Battalion.

His war diary notes that he was acting CSM and required to attend the court martial of Pte Donaghy.

    "Sunday 30th of September 1917 - On Court Martial at 10am Pte Donaghy's ".

Donaghy's military conduct record states - "9pm- 23.9.17 - ... confinement awaiting trial 6 days" .. so that lines up with Georges diary.

Very sad to see that Frank Donaghy did not survive the the Battle of Passchendaele ... may he rest in peace.
