- Obituary
- A military funeral was accorded the remains of the late Mr. Renata Parata, who passed away after a short illness at Waipiro Bay last week. Deceased was a member of the Pioneer Battalion and the burial took place with military honors. Captain R. G. Sherwood Hale, president of the Waiapu Returned Soldiers’ Association, and several members of the executive attended. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Pine Tamahori and Mr. T. Edge sounded the Last Post, and the party was supplied by late members of the Pioneer Battalion, In the evening friends and visitors were the guests of Mr. Retimana Parata, uncle of deceased, at the Waipiro hotel, when several speakers, both pakeha and Maori, eulogized the splendid qualities of the deceased.Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 25 January 2025 - OBITUARY - Poverty Bay Herald, Volume LIV, Issue 16747, 12 September 1928, Page 6
