- Obituary
- The sad news of the death in Auckland of Peta Turei recently came as a shock not only to his relatives and friends, but also to the whole tribe (writes our Tikitiki Correspondent). The. deceased was about 35 and was very popular. Since his return from the war he was in the service of the Waiapu Farmers' Co-operative Co., and his last position was manager of the branch store at Wai-o-Mataini. He leaves a widow with three young children to mourn their loss. Peta was the youngest son of the late Rev. Mohi Turei. His sister, Mrs. H. Kohere, and his brother, the Rev. Paraone Turei. known to many Gisbornites as a fine half-back, pre-deceased him several years ago. Much sympathy is felt for his family and his mother, who now. mourns the deaths of three fine children.Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 11 November 2024 - OBITUARY.
