Obituary

The death is recorded of Private Warena Kitohi, son of Mrs A. Warena, Kaikohe. The deceased soldier was amongst those who returned to New Zealand by the Marama, but he had not long been in Auckland before his death occurred. It is sad to know that the young native only reached his homeland to die, but there is some satisfaction in the knowledge that his bones will rest amongst those of his forefathers. The remains were sent forward by the military authorities by the s.s. Manaia yesterday and sent on to Kaikohe, where they will be accorded a military funeral.
