- FALL FROM LORRY
ELDERLY MAORIIS DEATH
ACCIDENT AT RUATOKI
When returning from a meeting at Ruatoki, Paul Rangiaho, aged 52 years, fell or Slipped from the rear of the truck in which he was riding and struck his head on the road'way. He died an hour after the accident in a nearby house. The deceased had left the meeting-house at Ruatoki about 1.30 a.m. and with three other Maoris travelled on a small truck to his home. He was riding on the rear of the vehicle with a man named Meta Hori. Nearing his own home he prepared to dismount before the truck actually came to a halt and was precipitated on to the road. Being a big man he fell heavily striking his head. The vehicle was stopped and deceased removed to a nearby house. He failed to recover consciousness and died within an hour. Deceased saw service in the last war and was a widower. He was well known at Ruatoki. The inquest was opened this morning for identification purposesPublic - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 19 August 2025 - Bay of Plenty Beacon, Volume 7, Issue 61, 31 March 1944, Page 5 - Memorial name
